“On Your Mark” Pre-training Youth Program


On Your Mark pre-training youth program is an introduction to the world of distance running for students in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. While we believe that students this age are too young to engage in rigorous, formal training, we do believe that if they have an interest in running cross country in the seventh grade, it is appropriate for them to start learning how to train. Learning the “how” is our focus.  We want to introduce a basic understanding of the training process, instill quality training habits, and begin to develop a healthy mental approach to the sport.  

Practices will be an hour long, two days a week over a six week period.  Each hour session will include dynamic stretching, basic drills, a short run, strides, static stretching, and a theme that revolves around an Over The Mountain core value.  

Meeting Location:
We will meet Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:00pm by Mountain Brook Elementary School’s field, running the Jemison Trail.

We will begin on Monday March 4th and practice for 3 consecutive weeks leading up to Spring Break. We will not practice Spring Break, March 25th & 27th, but will continue for three weeks, starting on April 1st.

The cost is $160 per athlete and will include a t-shirt and a foam roller.
